What Shaykh Hamad al-Ansaari[1] said About

Tablighi Jammat

1 – Mere Claims

AbdulAwal bin Hamad al-Ansaari said:

Jamat ad-Dawa’ is not a Jamat of Dawa’ rather they are a Jamat of claimants.’[2]

2 – Kharooj

‘I entered the Masjid an-Nabawi – may the best praise and peace be upon the Prophet – I saw a gathering of people in a circle where one of them was talking in other than Arabic.  One of those people came to me and said to me: ‘Do you know who we are?’

I answered: ‘I don’t know.’

He said: ‘We’re Jama’ah Tabligh, and we have six principles.’

So I wrote them down and he said to me: ‘Do you want to go out on Kharooj (going out in the path of Allaah) with us?’

I asked: ‘What would I be doing?’

He said: ‘Do that which we do?’

I said to him: ‘I came to this country for knowledge, I did not come here to go out on Kharooj!’

Then when I visited Makkah I came to know a lot more about  them, and that was during their school called Solateeyah since it was theirs. There is no good in all their going out (Kharooj), since they do not teach the people anything.’[3]

3 –  This group do not want knowledge

‘Once, I entered the Masjid an-Nabawi and I saw a large group sitting under the large clock – I asked one of them who are these people?

He said: ‘They are Jamat Tabligh.’

I said to him: ‘What are they conveying?’

He told me: ‘They are conveying the Dawa’ in these Arab lands’

I said to him: ‘Have they conveyed it to the Sikhs and Buddhists?’ Then I continued: ‘This group do not want knowledge nor do they seek it. In this way they cause more deviancy than rectification.  I know Jamat Tabligh very well, in ‘Aqeedah they are Maturidee Chishtee, and in Madhab they are staunch Hanafi.  I gave a lecture once in a Masjid in al-Jurf in al-Madina al-Munnawara, when I began the lecture – there was a group from Tabligh in the Masjid and they all left when the lecture began.’[4]
